Pioneer AVIC-N5 Players

 

 

 

The Pioneer AVIC-N5 is an In Dash Multimedia/Navigation receiver. I have recently replaced my factory Chevrolet head unit with the Pioneer AVIC-N5. The S.U.V. is factory equipped with AM/FM, CD, and satellite.

I wanted to add an intergrated navigation package with out sacrificing my back up display, or paying for factory equipment. I found a few products that closely fit my requirements, but the Pioneer AVIC-N5 packed the most bang for the buck.

The Pioneer AVIC-N5 offered a comprehensive and up to date navigation package. This fulfilled my main interest, but along with the navigation the Pioneer AVIC-N5 was completely compatible with my factory back-up display. The 7" touchscreen display, in my opinion, is a vast improvement over the factory rectangle display.

 

I was pleasantly surprised that the Pioneer AVIC-N5 accepted, and even improved, so many of the factory options. The DVD playback is stellar. I wish that this quality of product was available from the dealer at a competitive price.

I found my Pioneer AVIC-N5 for a little under $800, the dealership where I purchased my S.U.V. wanted well over $2000 for nearly the same package.

All that being said I do have some down sides, if you can call them that.

First, do not intend on installing the Pioneer AVIC-N5 yourself. Direct harness adapters are available, but the Pioneer AVIC-N5 offers so options that the wiring is in itself intense.

Second, custom vanity installation will be required for many manufacturers. Again you can find kits to do this, but to ensure a nice finished look, professional installation will be required. This can be accomplished at the same location that does the wiring.

I say that the Pioneer AVIC-N5 is a clear buy. It will give instant satisfaction and years of use.
